Community Centers and Neighborhood Programs

Sacred Heart Community Center

  • After school programs - Several artists provide instruction in a variety of classes including Folklorico dance, visual art and photography.

  • Academic Summer Camp - The five-week project connects the arts to Sacred Heart’s academic curriculum.

InnVision - The Villa

  • Art as Therapy - Arts programs for the children who are residents of these transitional housing programs.

Migrant Education

  • A four-week summer course providing visual and performing arts program to  the children of local migrant workers.

Santa Clara County Office of Education Alternative Education

  • Alternative Placement Academy - Muriel Wright School
    Summer arts residency teaching the youngsters in this locked facility team building, self-esteem and discipline.

CORAL - Communities Organizing Resources to Advance Learning

Eight-week after school residences held throughout the school year at various sites including:

  • Stonegate Elementary

  • Sherman Oaks Elementary

  • Washington Elementary

San Jose After School

Eight week residencies are being held throughout the school year at three different sites in this city run after school program:

  • Empire Gardens Elementary

  • Slonaker Elementary

  • Cureton Elementary

world moves

The goal of the program is to teach youngsters about diverse cultures through the universal languages of the arts.  The dance artists teach the students about the history, music and traditions of their ethnicity through dance.  Native musicians accompany the students in their performances and authentic costumes add to the experience.  Lessons are based on the California State Framework for the Visual and Performing Arts and assessed in accordance with the State Standards for Arts Education.
