Community Centers and Neighborhood Programs

Sacred Heart Community Center

  • Early Childhood Education (Infants/Toddlers/Pre-School) - The goals for the Early Childhood Education Program are to nurture and enrich the children's lives and to prepare them for kindergarten.


  • Homework Club - Monday through Thursday, children seek out the environment and protection of the learning center at SHCS. They bring their school assignments and, together with the help of a qualified volunteer, work on and complete their homework. As part of the Homework Club, children are also offered enrichment programs such as art and dance, provided by Tapestry Arts. They also attend monthly field trips to such places as The Tech Museum, The Children's Discovery Museum, and Happy Hollow Zoo.


  • Academic Summer Camp - The five-week project connects the arts to Sacred Heart’s academic curriculum.


InnVision - The Villa

  • Art as Therapy - Arts programs for the children who are residents of these transitional housing programs.

Migrant Education

  • A four-week summer course providing visual and performing arts program to  the children of local migrant workers.

Santa Clara County Office of Education Alternative Education

  • Alternative Placement Academy - Muriel Wright School
    Summer arts residency teaching the youngsters in this locked facility team building, self-esteem and discipline.

Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County - CORAL After-School Program

CORAL improves the academic achievement of young people through out-of-school programs by involving students, families, schools, and community based organizations. Services include:

  • CORAL (Communities Organizing Resources to Advance Learning): An after-school program functioning at many Santa Clara County public schools. CORAL focuses on improving student achievement through balanced literacy and enrichment activities.

  • Leadership, Ethnic, and Academic Pride (LEAP) Project: An after-school program supporting youth to succeed in school and make healthy choices with their peers, their families and in their community.

CORAL After-School Program

San Jose After School

After school programs promote healthy youth development and student learning. This includes homework centers and tutoring, recreation, arts, and enrichment activities, and technology centers. Youth will enjoy safe, fun, and enriching activities at sites located throughout San Jose.There are wonderful after school programs in your area.
