Tapestry Arts provides arts education in local schools and arts outreach in the neighborhoods.   Arts Education and Outreach Philosophy   Tapestry supports learning in and through the arts by:

- Providing opportunities and access
- Developing creativity
- Fostering imagination

In addition to outreach programs Tapestry will host a series of programs at History Park San Jose. The concept was to develop art programs that teach the basics of art, history and math as well as enables kids to create. By integrating math and other components into the program, it will meet standards for California public schools and thus enable student participation. We will conduct the programs at the History Park, (inside and outside) as well as utilizing a mobile program that will go to the schools.

San Jose
History Park and at School ProgramsArt Counts Grades 5-6 Art Counts program teaches art based on mathematics, geometry, spatial relations and creativity. Students will learn that all of these important educational elements go into something abstract as art. They will be given problems to solve that will create art. Early American Art History and Drawing Grades 3-4, 5-6 Kids learn about America’s Early American Art.  Students will spend the morning in a restored one-room school-house being taught as if they were attending school in the 1890s. They will learn about early American artists and the differences of art mediums and styles. They will identify an artist they like and create their own pen and ink drawing in the artist’s style. They will also write a synopsis of what they drew and why they chose the artist. Art Summer Camp Summer camps will be geared towards kids that have a deeper appreciation for art. They will learn art history as well as create art using several art styles. The program will be in conjunction with local artist that will come in and teach for a day. Art in the Park Art in the Park is a weekly event that is geared toward a more senior audience that would like a place to share their passion for art. It is also a place to connect with people. Each week a local artist will come to the park to meet other artists and draw and create art. There will be no charge to access the park or participate. In addition to having access to the park we will have local artists and instructors from local colleges lecture and demonstrate art.
