KGO Newstalk AM 810 presents the
29th Annual Tapestry Arts Festival, San Jose’s
oldest
and largest community event. The
festival will be held on Labor Day Weekend, September 4,
5 & 6, on the streets of downtown
San Jose. Festival hours are Saturday & Sunday, 10:00 AM
to 6:00 PM and Monday, 10:00 AM
to 5:00 PM
Silicon Valley’s oldest & largest
street festival features: 350 arts & craft booths, 40 food
vendors offering a wide selection
of culinary delights, 3 entertainment stages, the Creativity
Zone a free hands-on art
activities area for kids of all ages, Interactive Alley
sports &
recreation area and the indoor
Design for Living Home & Garden Show.
Tapestry’s juried art show offers
consistently high quality arts & crafts from a wide array of
genres. From jewelry and
ceramics to decorative gourds, this is the festival that
provides a
great head start for your holiday
gift shopping in a colorful and exciting setting.
KGO Radio and ABC-7 Consumer
Advocate, Michael Finney, will broadcast LIVE from the
festival site on Sunday,
September 5, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Check out the
broadcast at
the KGO Radio booth on Park
Avenue near the Tech Museum.
Tapestry’s premier component, the
Creativity Zone, offers free hands-on art activities
for kids
of all ages. Under the guidance
of professional artist facilitators over 5,000 children per
day
will enjoy the art of mask
making, learn circus tricks, paint a mural, and much more.
Foodies will love the culinary
offerings from Tapestry’s food vendors. From meat on a stick
to fancy crepes, from kettle corn
to strawberry cakes, they will not go home hungry!
In addition, you can complement
all this wonderful food with some great micro brews from
Budweiser or some of Beringer’s
fine selection of wines.
Tapestry’s entertainment stages
will feature a variety of musical acts, dance & theatrical
presentations. The Mix 106.5 /
KBAY 94.5 Stage will showcase Big Fun, one of the Bay Area’s
hottest new bands and the always
fascinating Heartbeats will headline on Sunday, September 5.
The 98.5 KFOX Brews & BBQ Stage
will feature local favorites Nitecry headlining on Monday,
September 6. The South Bay
Guitar Society will book the Classical Stage all three
festival
days. There will be something
for everyone!
This year’s festival will feature
a spectacular $25,000 cash prize contest sponsored by
PennySaver coupon book.
Festival attendees will pitch pennies into a prize bucket and
each
person will have a chance to win
the grand prize. Local media celebrities will join in by
pitching pennies for their
favorite charity.
For mom & dad Tapestry proudly
presents the Design for Living Home & Garden Show inside
Parkside Hall. This is the place
to purchase a home security system, check out new shutters for
your windows, buy a high tech
shower head, discover some new landscaping ideas or get help
with your financial planning!
Teens will naturally gravitate to
Tapestry’s Interactive Alley where they can take a ride on a
hang gliding flight simulator,
climb a rock wall or just hang out in the festival’s coolest
area.
This year’s festival will be
promoted by a variety of media sponsors including NBC11,
KSTS48 Telemundo, San Jose
Mercury News, Mix 106.5, KBAY 94.5, 92 KSJO, 98.5 KFOX,
104.9 The Channel and PennySaver.
Tapestry invites the community to
come celebrate this 29th annual San Jose tradition.
Proceeds from the festival fund
arts education programs for children in our local schools.
